Biter Biscuit Boy

I wonder why Gerber makes these messy, messy cookies? Then, I wonder why I buy them? I guess it's because Sam loves them and he can wrap his fat little fingers around them. Even though it gets everywhere, and I mean everywhere, he seems to really enjoy his independence with his messy cookies. Can you see it on both hands? his right wrist?all over bib #2 for the day? and, no, that's not whiskers, it's cookie!
Look, he wants to hug you. Go ahead, pick him up!
That actually leads to the exciting part of this - get him to the sink without being touched. He likes to grab for the dishes in the sink while I'm washing him - I'm just waiting for him to get the sprayer!

A Little Diddy about Father's & Son's (from my perspective)

(sing to the tune of Oh, What do you do in the Summertime?)

Oh, What do you do At Father's and Son's time when you're home all alone?
Do you scrapbook all night?
Go to Cafe Rio for a bite?
Is that what you do? So do I!

Oh, What do you do At Father's and Son's time when you're home all alone?
Start the day with chocolate pie?

Watch a little CSI?
Is that what you do? So do I!

Oh, What do you do At Father's and Son's time when you're home all alone?
Go to the Home Show for fun?

Find a booth and get your hair done?
Is that what you do? So do I!

Oh, What do you do At Father's and Son's time when you're home all alone?
Go to Rod Works to look?

Work more on your scrapbook?
Is that what you do? So do I!

Oh, What don't you do At Father's and Son's time when you're home all alone?
That's easy!
You don't fold the laundry, you don't worry with the bills, you don't sort the clothes the kids have outgrown, and you don't clean the basement!

I love Father's and Son's!!

You're invited...

to a beatin', a hangin', a disciplinary council...something! While Jared, Sam, and I were trying to take a nice Sunday nap, the other varmints were upstairs writing on the walls! It all took place in Jake's room. I guess it really is mine and Jared's faults because we were the one that called for mandatory spotless room cleaning yesterday (otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to get close enough to the walls to write on 'em). So, yeah, before you think 3 yo Joshie was the biggest culprit, let me tell you, his zigzags on the wall were only about 6 inches tall and a foot in length. Cameron's name is only about an inch tall and 3 inches in length. I still don't know if he wrote his or if Jake took care of it for him. Jake, my !9yo son! in the !freakin fourth grade! wrote his name 2-3 feet tall across the whole %#*&^ wall!I made him put his hand by it in the picture so you could get the idea. What do I do? He has lost all money he was trying to earn for his school book order. Instead, he will be earning money for a nice, shiny new can of paint. He also is grounded for a week. But, with the way I feel and the knowledge he has, I feel there should be more. It needs to be bad, real bad. Maybe I should sell his Bakugans to buy the paint? Cancel his Christmas because he's been naughty?( I only put that because he's reading over my shoulder as I type.) But really, WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS HE THINKIN'?

Where were you?

As I took the boys to school this morning, a lady called in on the radio and said she was near tears because there were so few American flags flying this morning. In our old neighborhood, the Scouts out flags in everyone's yards for 9/11, but we don't have that here. Do you remember where you were when you heard?
I do.
It was just like this morning. I was getting ready for a bunch of preschoolers. Two year old Jake was running around and Cam was a day away from 2 months. My neighbor called and told us to turn on the TV. I sat there in shock, watching things unfold on TV. The thought came to pop a blank video in the VCR and record it. I'm so glad I did.
I couldn' t help but cry as I thought of the thousands of people dying, and especially the little children that wouldn't see their parents again. That really got to me as I watched my two babies play on the floor. It's usually the boys that serve our country in wars, and even though they were so small at the time, it scared me to death to think of them leaving to fight in a war. Now, on the seventh anniversary of 9/11, my fears are still real as my number of boys has doubled and they could very well defend our country one day.
So, as I remember all of this this morning, I think I've made sense of something else. Last week was our Stake Conference. Saturday night, a speaker quoted this scripture:

Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.
And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it.
Alma 56:46-47

It hit home because I have sons and it's my job to teach them. I know that Heavenly Father gave us the scriptures so we could apply them to ourselves. My boys may or may not fight battles in wars when they get older. But, my testimony and example will help them as they fight the battles of right and wrong everyday. One day, I bet Heavenly Father will ask each of us where we were when our children were doing certain things. We're responsible for our armies.

Joshie started preschool down the street at Ms. Ginger's house last Tuesday. He is loving preschool. He's made an apple book,a necklace, and today he went on a bear hunt. Most of the kids ion his class are from teh neighborhood, so he loves 'going to school' with his friends.

Sammers is not to be out done this past month. Even if all of his big brothers are going to school, he has his own skills to show off. At 6 1/2 months, he started crawling (end of July) Two days after turning 7 months (Aug 21), he decided he could sit up by his self. Last week he started this little pulling up maneuver. I haven't encouraged it because we all know what comes next : cruising, walking, getting into stuff. So, he's biffed it a couple of times on the rug, but he will not be stopped. I finally took a picture today, and you can see the satisfaction in his face as I face my own defeat in keeping him a baby.

Of all the 80's icons...

Ya know, a lot of the toys and cartoons that we watched when we were kids are making a comeback. My Little Pony, Strawberry Shortcake, Transformers, etc. (I'm still waiting for MonChiChi). Anyways, I want to know who to call to file a complaint about my child's choice of 80's icon.

Strawberry Shortcake

and Transformers

And My Joshie's favorite 80's icon: The Hoff

We learned about him from "The Spongebob Movie" which was my first mistake. I really don't like Spongebob. But, a friend brought the movie over and I succombed. There's a scene where 'The Hoff' rescues Spongebob and Ptrick on the beach and takes them back to Bikini Bottom. (I am ashamed I know the names of these characters & places!) Anyhow, Josh wants to see pictures of David Hasselhoff on the computer now and he talks about him like we know the weirdo! Moral of the story: Spongebob is stupid and will introduce more stupid things to your kids if you let him!
